A historic topic for both countries. The Women's National Teams of Colombia and Mexico in the Sub-20 category achieved important results in their matches against New Zealand and Germany, respectively, which secured their qualification to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, held in Costa Rica. Get to know the opponents, fixtures, and schedule of both national teams.

The Colombian team had a tough match. New Zealand scored in the 3rd minute, forcing them to seek an equalizer to avoid complications. However, Linda Caicedo scored a brace for the 2-1 lead, but they suffered the expulsion of Yirleidis Tejada at the 42nd minute.

New Zealand equalized through Charlotte Lancaster, who added suspense to a match that didn't see any more goals. With this result, Colombia advanced as first in their group, and the 'Kiwis' were eliminated from the tournament.

Mexico, on the other hand, defeated Germany with a spectacular goal by Alexia Villanueva in the 59th minute, after the Latin American team had played better throughout the match. The 'Tri' had several opportunities to increase their lead, but their forwards failed to score against Julia Kassen's goal.

With this victory by the Mexican team, Germany was eliminated from the World Cup and became the first big disappointment of the tournament, as they arrived as one of the favorites.

Now, both teams will have to wait for the results of Group A to find out their opponents in the quarterfinals. Spain and Brazil are tied in first place with 4 points, but Australia is another team that still has options to advance to the next stage of the competition.

It's worth noting that the next stage of the World Cup will be played between Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21. Colombia will face the second-placed team from Group A, while Mexico will do the same with the leader. Without a doubt, great matches are coming.
