Freddy Rincón suffered a serious car accident on the streets of Cali in the early hours of Monday and his condition was confirmed as critical; however, the legend of Colombian football could not resist and his death was confirmed.

The former player and sports commentator is remembered for scoring the goal that Colombia tied 1-1 with Germany in the 1990 World Cup, a draw that allowed the Colombian team to qualify for the round of 16 of a World Cup for the first time.
"We want to express our sincere feelings of condolences to their family, friends, acquaintances, and fans all over the world. There will never be a way to express what it feels like to lose one of our patients, whoever that patient may be," added the doctor.
Quintero asked the fans to "honor and celebrate the life of Freddy Eusebio for all the joys he brought us, for everything he made us experience,."
How did the accident happen?
Freddy Rincón was involved in a collision between his van and a public bus on Fifth Street and 34th Avenue in the city of Cali. The vehicle in which the former Colombian national team footballer was travelling was hit by a bus. It is reported that five other people were also injured in the crash.
The 55-year-old former player remained hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Imbanaco Clinic and would later undergo surgery for severe head trauma.
