Qatar 2022 qualifiers are coming to an end. This Tuesday, March 29th, we will find out which team will secure the fifth place, which means the play-off. This way, they will try to qualify for the next World Cup. The three countries competing for this spot are Peru, Chile, and Colombia.

Out of these three teams, the Blanquirroja (Peru) has the best chance to secure the fifth place in South America, but both Chile and Colombia still have a chance at this qualification. In this opportunity, we show you what Colombia needs and what happens if they win, draw, or lose in matchday 18 of the Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

What Colombia needs

  • Win against Venezuela
  • Peru draws or loses.

If Colombia wins

If Colombia beats Venezuela, they will reach 23 points and surpass Peru, as long as the Blanquirroja does not earn three points against Paraguay. If they draw, both teams will have 22 points, and if Colombia loses, they will stay with 21 points.

If Colombia draws

If the Colombian team draws against Venezuela, they will reach 21 points. In that case, they will have to wait for the Peruvian team to lose against Paraguay. This way, the coffee growers will secure the fifth place due to their better goal difference than the Incas. Colombia has a goal difference of 0, while Peru has -5. They will also have to wait for Chile not to earn three points against Uruguay or at least draw.
