With the support of their fans, 'Matecaña' went out determined to win at home. It was in the 51st minute when Wilfrido De La Rosa scored the only goal of the match, driving the '12' fans wild.
The 'Azucarero' team, under the command of coach Dudamel, faced the match with an alternate team, as they were already qualified for the final. Despite the defeat, they managed to secure their place in the Copa Libertadores after six years.
