Peruvian pride! National gymnast Edward Alarcón Luque won two silver medals for Peru at the 2021 Cali-Valle Junior Pan American Games, finishing second in the artistic gymnastics competitions on pommel horse and rings.
In the final series of the pommel horse competition, held on Sunday, November 28th at Coliseo El Pueblo, our compatriot scored 12.9, only behind Dominican Jabier Polanco Acosta (gold with 13.133) and ahead of Costa Rican Ariel Villalobos (bronze with 12.833).
A few minutes later, the rings final took place, where the 18-year-old Peruvian athlete again took second place with a score of 12.6. First place went to American David Shamah (12.666), while Brazilian Gustavo Ramos Pereira completed the podium (12.5).

With this achievement, Peru reaches 10 medals in this first edition of the Junior Pan American Games. So far, the Peruvian delegation has won 6 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
Half of the medals won by Peru in the Cali-Valle games were obtained in judo: two silver medals by Kiara Arango (57 kg) and Yumiko Tanabe (78 kg), and three bronze medals by Noemi Huayhuameza (52 kg), Arnold Prado (60 kg), and Javier Saavedra (81 kg).
There was also a silver medal for Ángelo Caro in the street skateboarding event and for Eliana Vasquez in the 67 kg category of Taekwondo, while the other bronze medal was won by Santiago Villegas in the 73 kg category of weightlifting.
The Cali-Valle Junior Pan American Games 2021 will continue until Sunday, December 5th.
