The Colombian National Team has not left a good impression in this last round of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, since out of the two matches played against Brazil and Paraguay, they have only managed to earn 1 point, putting their direct ticket to the next World Cup at risk.
After learning about this situation, rumors began to circulate that the Colombian coach, Reinaldo Rueda, could be dismissed from his position. However, the president of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Ramón Jesurún, confirmed that the continuity of the strategist is not up for discussion, as he has the full support of the Executive Committee.
"There is no doubt, his name is not being considered for a change. Professor Rueda has the full support of the Executive Committee, as do the players and coaching staff. This is a process of an Elimination round that has been a bit atypical, difficult, but we continue to have faith and optimism that we will return to the World Cup of football,"he said on the 6 AM program of Caracol Radio.
Likewise, the head of Colombian football emphasized that the Executive Committee has not discussed that issue and pointed out that the National Team can reach the Qatar 2022 World Cup because it depends on itself and not on other results.
"None, absolutely none. The topic hasn't even been touched in the Executive Committee. For us, that is not up for discussion, the coaching staff. We are depending on ourselves, without depending on external results, we continue to depend on ourselves in the search for that long-awaited qualification," he concluded.
