In a press conference, on Tuesday, September 5, the Bolivian Federation (FBF) announced that it has decided to cancel the two professional soccer tournaments in this country (League and Professional Cup), motivated by accusations of manipulation and corruption in the matches. According to the statement, the decision was made with the support of 14 favorable votes, 2 opposing votes, and one abstention from the Superior Council of the Professional Division. As a subsequent measure, a "flash" championship will be held for the remainder of the year.
The determination was made after the FBF made an official complaint to the Prosecutor's Office, accusing them of "aggravated fraud and criminal association." This happened after the alleged creation of a "corruption network" involving players, previous and current officials, as well as referees.
