Until when? Tear gas was thrown at the Bolívar vs. Inter match [VIDEO].

Hace un año

The match between Bolivar vs. Internacional, for the second leg of the Copa Libertadores 2023 quarterfinals, was stopped after tear gas was thrown from the stands.

Unfortunate. This Tuesday, August 29, Bolivar visited Internacional in Porto Alegre, in the context of the second leg of the quarterfinals of the 2023 Copa Libertadores. Although 'Colorado' quickly took the lead with a goal from Enner Valencia, the Bolivian team did not stay idle and went in search of the equalizer. However, a strong incident stopped the game: players from both teams complained about a powerful odor that came down from the stands, warning the referee that tear gas was present.

It was goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, who was in goal when he smelled the substance. Immediately, covering his nose, he went to the main referee to express his annoyance at this fact. The other players on the field also showed signs of being affected, which is why the match had to be stopped.

It should be noted that the origin of the tear gas is still unknown, but the commentators did not rule out the possibility that 'Colorado' supporters entered some gas bombs into the Brazilian venue. However, the match resumed minutes later under normal conditions.

Bolivar vs. Internacional: what's next

After the match against Internacional, Bolivar will have to focus on their next challenge. Their opponent will be Always Ready, a team they will face on matchday 25 of the Bolivian First Division. The match will take place on September 17 at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz and will kick off at 4:30 p.m. (Peruvian time).

It is necessary to mention that the Bolivian team is currently in third position in the local tournament, with 41 points, eight behind the leader, The Strongest. Therefore, they mustn't neglect and drop points, as this points difference could be fatal for the objectives of the 'Academia'.

Internacional, on the other hand, will prepare for the match against Goias. 'Colorado' will visit Estádio da Serrinha on Saturday, September 2, starting at 2:00 p.m., with the aim of getting three points. In the current season of Brasileirao, Eduardo Coudet's team is in 14th place, with 25 points.
