Sporting Cristal's Victory against The Strongest
Oscar Del Portal analyzed the victory of Sporting Cristal against The Strongest (Bolivia) in the Group D of the Copa Libertadores 2023.
Oscar Del Portal analyzed the victory obtained by Sporting Cristal in the match against The Strongest (Bolivia), the first in Group D of the Copa Libertadores 2023.
Del Portal emphasized the willingness of the Celeste squad to seek victory on Tuesday night at the Estadio Nacional, but he stressed that the team led by Brazilian Tiago Nunes has not shown an improvement in their performance.
"Cristal won because they wanted it more, because they had more desire, more intention, but it seems to me that they have not improved in the game yet. Although I think this victory will give them reason to do it," said the host of América Deportes.
"As constructive criticism, I believe that Tiago Nunes had found the team, but then lost it by making so many rotations and modifications (...) they could have conspired to make Cristal and the player themselves not feel confident about their role," he added.
Rimense's Triumph
Sporting Cristal defeated the Bolivian The Strongest 1-0 in Lima, their first victory in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2023 in the third match of Group D.
The winning goal was scored by Jhilmar Lora at the 80th minute of the match played at the Estadio Nacional.
Fluminense remains undefeated and leads Group D with 9 points. They are followed by The Strongest, Sporting Cristal, and River Plate in that order with 3 points.
Next Match in the Libertadores
In the fourth match of Group D of the Copa Libertadores 2023, Sporting Cristal will host River Plate in Lima on May 25th, and Fluminense will visit The Strongest in the altitude of La Paz.
