The events began when an undetermined number of Fluminense's barrabravas ambushed dozens of Boca fans who were enjoying the afternoon at the famous carioca beach, resulting in Argentine fans running to safeguard themselves from a violent attack.
Several videos circulating on social media show the moment of the Fluminense fans' attack, who arrived at the beach in large numbers and as a single group occupying one side of Avenida Atlántica, which extends along the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Leme.
