River Plate defeated Boca Juniors 2-0 away on Sunday in the Argentine football superclásico, for the seventh matchday of the Copa de la Liga. In a packed Bombonera with around 50,000 spectators, the 'millionaires' celebrated a victory with goals from Venezuelan forward Salmón Rondón in the 40th minute, from a rebound, and Enzo Díaz in the 90+5th minute. The defeat in the superclásico is a tough blow for Boca ahead of the rematch against Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores semifinals in 2023, on Thursday in Sao Paulo, after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
