For some time it was known that users who made their purchases in Nintendo's virtual store could adjust their country of residence on their account in order to access prices from other geographical areas. This was often used to take advantage of the exchange rate that could be found in other territories.
The country that users most often chose when changing their settings and accessing more affordable prices for Nintendo's virtual games was Argentina. Players made these adjustments to enter the eShop of Argentina, taking into account that they could find cheaper prices due to the exchange rate. But that has changed.
Goodbye to the 'trick' using Nintendo eShop Argentina
It turns out that now gamers have been surprised to find that they can no longer complete their purchases in Nintendo eShop Argentina if they do not use a debit or credit card issued in Argentina.
Those who wanted to continue insisting with the 'trick' from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, or any other country where the eShop is available, would encounter error code 2814-2470. On the company's website, it is now mentioned that buying in Nintendo's virtual store requires using cards issued in the same country.
"The available payment methods for purchases in the Nintendo eShop of a specific country are restricted to the payment methods or credit cards issued in that same country. For example, a credit card issued in Mexico will not work in the Nintendo eShop of Argentina," reads Nintendo's website.
