Surf competition in Mendihuaca Beach
In the first day of the surf competitions, held at Mendihuaca Beach, Venezuela won two gold medals, while Peru and Argentina finished with 1 gold each.
The two gold medals for Venezuela were in bodyboarding, obtained by Rosmarky Álvarez and Daniel Arocha, who recorded times of 13:84 and 12:76 respectively.
In the women's category, the silver medal was won by Hannah Saavedra (PER) with a time of 10:17, and the bronze went to Verónica Correa (PAN) with a time of 7:16. In the men's category, Edwin Núñez from Panama took the silver with a time of 12:33, and Cristopher Bayona from Peru took the bronze with a time of 9:73.
In the Women's Sup Race, the gold medal went to Juliana González from Argentina with a time of 28:15:00, followed by Lena Guimaraes from Brazil with a time of 30:17:00, and Giannisa Vecco from Peru with a time of 31:54:00. In the men's category, Itzael Delgado from Peru took the top spot with a time of 22:38:00, followed by David Nascimento from Leao de Brasil (23:08:00) in second place, and Santino Basaldella from Argentina (23:27:00) in third place.
On Sunday, the competitions of shortboard and sup surf for both men and women will take place starting at 8:00am.
