Two gold medals! Tamil Martino and Vania Torres stood out at the South American Beach Games.

The first to participate was Tamil Martino, who despite having a tough path to reach the final, showed all his power to overcome his opponents. The national surfer finished in first place and won the gold medal with 13,330 points. His runner-up, Brazilian Luis Rodríguez Diniz, scored 11,430 points, while the bronze went to Argentine Franco Faccin with 8,530 points.

On the other hand, Vania Torres also had a difficult final, especially in the final moments to secure the last points. However, she also succeeded and hung the gold medal around her neck with 19.31 points. Behind her were Argentine Lucía Cosoleyo with 18.24 points and Brazilian Gabriela Ramos Sztamfater with 5.9 points.

Remember that both Tamil Martino and Vania Torres are qualified for the Pan American Games to be held this year in the city of Santiago. The former qualified through the ISA World SUP & Paddleboard Championship, in the Sup Surf category. Torres, on the other hand, secured her spot in Chile thanks to the silver medal she won at the Pan American PASA Games 2023, also in the Sup Surf category.

Virna Lizi Johnson Salcedo, Mayor of Santa Marta, was present during the opening of the 2023 South American Games and delivered a powerful message of unity to all participating delegations. "As we see the flags we are going to hoist, representing the 15 participating countries, we appreciate the fraternity, richness, and diversity that unites an entire continent," she stated.
