University of Sports receives tough news
Universitario de Deportes received tough news after learning that José Carvallo was sanctioned with eight matches by Conmebol. This is due to his strong aggression towards a Gimnasia La Plata player during the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. In light of this, the sports direction is already working to find his replacement in the centennial season, knowing that they will participate internationally for sure.
YOU CAN SEE: José Carvallo had a strong argument with Pedro García due to the kick on the Gimnasia player
As you may recall, José Carvallo will have to serve an eight-match suspension in Conmebol tournaments due to the hard kick he gave to a player from Gimnasia La Plata of Argentina during the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana.
In the squad, there are three promising goalkeepers like Diego Romero (21), Aamet Calderón (25), and Alejandro Alcalá (21). However, none of them have much experience guarding the posts, so the team would look for one with international experience.
Given that, a name that has been mentioned several times in the cream team's agenda jumps out. It is the goalkeeper Carlos Cáceda, a national team player and a World Cup participant with Peru.
Formed in the U's youth divisions and with a Copa Libertadores Sub 20 (2011) in his hands, he would be the main option for the club's sports direction in its centennial year.
Carlos Cáceda, who has a contract until the end of 2024 with Melgar, would have no problem returning to Universitario, the club where he was born as a goalkeeper.
