The Sporting Cristal vs. River Plate Match Ends in a Draw

Omar Ruiz de Somocurcio, a sports journalist, commented on everything that happened last Thursday night during the match between Sporting Cristal and River Plate, which ended in a 1-1 draw in the game held at the Estadio Nacional as part of Group D in the Copa Libertadores.

The Teledeportes host pointed out that the referee of the match succumbed to the pressure from the River players; however, the "Cervecero" team came close to winning. "It would have been fantastic if that last ball from Grimaldo had gone in. It would have been a historic victory to get back into the tournament fight," he said.

He also stated that the aggressions in the stands at the beginning of the match could bring about serious consequences and very drastic sanctions, as there are unconfirmed reports that a police officer was attacked.

Regarding the exchange of words between "Celeste" coach Tiago Nunes and members of the River Plate team at the end of the match, the journalist said that despite that, it was still a "great game" because of Sporting Cristal's merit, especially goalkeeper Renato Solís, who saved a penalty from the opposing team.

"Let's hope that these incidents do not happen again, especially if they have tried to attack a police officer," emphasized the press man.
