A young woman living in Spain went viral by sharing what happened in a recent job interview. Although things seemed to be going perfectly, and she felt like a "champion" throughout most of the process, everything ended unexpectedly when she was asked a question that left her speechless.
"I was doing great. I was like a champion answering all the questions really well. Everything was laughs. I said, 'That's it, I'm hired, I start tomorrow,'" said user Consu Navarro (@consunavarro), originally from Argentina, to start her story.
However, she was surprised with a question that left her blank. "They asked me, 'Well, last question: how would you know how many tennis balls fit in a school bus?'", recalled the architecture student.
Although she tried to come up with a quick answer to the question, she didn't know how to respond. "'No, it doesn't matter,' they told me. 'How many fit?'. I said to myself, okay, bye, fire me, don't hire me. I left without saying anything," she lamented.
Users tried to answer the interviewer's question
The young woman's video went viral and generated all kinds of reactions among users. While some tried to do the calculations to answer the question, others simply said that companies use these types of exercises to assess the interviewee's reaction to an unexpected situation.
“I could easily answer that but... why don't we answer it with a song? and then you start a musical"; "You could say, 'The answer is in your heart'"; "The answer is simple, a lot fit"; "As you leave, you say, 'I'm going to investigate it because I'm interested in solving it'. Always effective"; "There is no one answer, you have to show that you can make that reasoning, describe the steps you would follow, with what considerations," people wrote.
A few days later, Consu posted a new video stating that the company had called her for a new interview. She claims that she spent the whole day studying on Google to be aware of the possible questions they could ask her.
