Luis Miguel Rodríguez, also known as 'Pulga' Rodríguez, suffered a serious car accident this Sunday. International media reported that his van overturned in Tucumán. The forward from Central Córdoba suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the Hospital Padilla as an emergency. A latest medical report confirmed that the 38-year-old football player is stable, but will continue to be under observation.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, while the football player was returning to his province after the match between Central Córdoba and Instituto for the Liga Profesional. After the accident, the 'Pulga' was found by other drivers when he was wandering disoriented due to the blows. He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
'Pulga' Rodríguez: what is his clinical condition
Former Colón player entered the hospital at 12:50 hours (Argentina time). He was diagnosed with a head and facial trauma. The initial medical report indicated that his condition is "stable", but as the hours passed, he had to be transferred to the intensive care unit for closer monitoring.
"At this moment he is not at risk of life, but I cannot provide details because we need constant evaluation. It is minute by minute because we have to be attentive to many of these blows," explained Javier Valdecantos, the hospital's director. "He has fractures in both maxillary sinuses and a minor non-surgical brain injury. We cannot say he is out of danger," he added.
Central Córdoba issued a statement on social media regarding the accident of their player. "El Pulga was transferred to the Hospital Padilla in San Miguel de Tucumán where he was diagnosed with multiple injuries and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). Part of the club's management is already there to closely monitor his progress," they pointed out.
'Pulga' Rodríguez: aiming to be a starter
'Pulga' Rodríguez joined 'Ferroviario' after playing for Atlético Tucumán and Gimnasia La Plata. He was one of the standout players in the last transfer market; however, he has not yet managed to secure a place in the team under coach Leonardo Carol Madelón. He has only started once and has made eight appearances from the substitute bench. Now, he will have to focus on his recovery.
