The mystery is over. This Monday, Boca Juniors confirmed the arrival of Jorge Almirón as the new coach of their main team to compete in the Argentine Professional League and the 2023 Copa Libertadores.
"Jorge Almirón, welcome home," was the message from Boca Juniors through their social media accompanied by photos of Almirón leading his first training session.
Almirón arrives at the xeneize as a replacement for Hugo Ibarra, who was dismissed on March 28, with the main goal of winning the seventh Libertadores in Boca's history.
According to information from the Argentine press, Almirón's stage began with a meeting with the players before putting on his xeneize jacket. He arrived with his collaborators Maximiliano Velásquez and Pablo Manusovich. However, Pablo Santella will continue as the fitness coach and José Gayoso as the goalkeeper coach.
The Argentine club did not give details of Almirón's contract with Boca Juniors, who must recover in the Argentine tournament. Currently, they are in 12th place with 14 points and are 10 units behind the leader River Plate (24).
