The Argentine Fernando 'Bocha' Batista was presented this Friday as the coach of Venezuela, replacing José Pékerman, who held the position for one year and three months, after the termination of the contract he had with the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF).
"I am here to announce who will be in charge of our men's national team, it will be Mr. Fernando Batista, along with Leandro Cufré, Jorge Vidal, Vicente Rosales, and the entire medical staff, video analysts, and Venezuelan and foreign physiotherapists who decided to join us and continue leading this great Vinotinto project," said FVF President Jorge Giménez at a press conference.
Giménez stated that Batista's contract and the rest of the coaching staff will be for four years, hoping that they can complete the qualification cycle for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
"Batista's contract is for four years, the idea is for him to complete the World Cup cycle that we have ahead in order to achieve our dream," he added.
Batista was previously the coach of the Venezuela U-23 national team. He also served as the coach of the Argentina U-20 national team.
