Boca Juniors with Luis Advíncula as a starter won the Supercopa Argentina-2022 by defeating the modest Patronato de Paraná 3-0 in the final match held on Wednesday night in Santiago del Estero.

Darío Benedetto (42, 52, and 61), who returned to the starting lineup at Boca after a long suspension due to his expulsion in last year's Trofeo de Campeones final against Racing, made an impressive comeback and sealed the final with a hat-trick in less than 20 minutes.

Boca had reached this final as the winner of the Liga Profesional, while Patronato had qualified as the winner of the Copa Argentina.

Precisely, Patronato had the luxury of eliminating Boca in the semi-finals of the Copa Argentina last year, but Boca got their revenge with a resounding victory.

The team from Paraná, despite their great campaign in 2022, could do little and were relegated to the second division due to their low average in previous years. They have just begun their participation in the second category with a renewed squad.

Benedetto, who has been a prominent figure at Boca in recent years, once again showed his effectiveness with three accurate finishes. He scored the first goal after a cross from Nicolás Figal, headed in the second from a corner by Paraguayan Oscar Romero, and sealed the match with a precise touch after receiving a low pass from Colombian Frank Fabra.

Thus, Boca won their second Supercopa Argentina, four years after their first celebration, and also added their 17th national title, bringing their total to 51 titles if the 35 league championships won are included.

In Boca's starting lineup were Colombians Frank Fabra and Sebastián Villa, Paraguayan Oscar Romero, and Peruvian Luis Advíncula. In the second half, Paraguayan Bruno Valdez, Armenian Norberto Briasco, and Uruguayan Miguel Merentiel entered the field. AFP
