This Tuesday, February 7, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Paraguay will officially announce their intention to host the 2030 World Cup through a press conference scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (Peruvian time) at the AFA headquarters in Ezeiza.
The highest-level leaders in the region will be gathered at the meeting: Alejandro Domínguez (president of Conmebol), Chiqui Tapia (Argentina), Ignacio Alonso Labat (Uruguay), Pablo Milad (Chile), and Robert Harrison (Paraguay)
Let's remember that this proposal comes from the commemoration of the first World Cup, which took place in Uruguay 100 years ago, in 1930. On that occasion, the host country took home the gold.
The South American alliance will have to compete with other candidates such as Spain/Portugal/Ukraine, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
The 2026 edition will be held in Canada/United States/Mexico. However, two years earlier, in 2024, the FIFA Congress will have to choose the next host.
