The Argentina national team "earned a place in the World Cup final" thanks to the "commitment" of the players and the team's "respect" for the "history", said César Luis Menotti, General Director of National Teams of Argentina and a World Cup winning coach in 1978.
"The secret of this team is that they play football and it makes me happy to see them respect history. Look at the players... You can see there is friendship and commitment to the team, to the national team. That's what makes me enjoy the World Cup, regardless of the result on Sunday," Menotti said in an interview published on Saturday by the Clarín newspaper.
According to the former national team coach, Lionel Scaloni's team "plays well" because they are capable of handling the four basic actions of this sport: defense, recovery, combination, and finishing in the final meters.
In this sense, 'el Flaco' praised that no Argentine player "seeks personal glory" during matches, something related to "the commitment to the team, to the idea."
