Why is he called 'El Huevo' Acuña?
There are different versions about the origin of such a curious nickname. Some say that Acuña is called 'El Huevo' because he used to hit his head a lot when he played football with the kids from the neighborhood. That is why he had several bumps.
However, the player's mother has her own story to tell. “His brother gave him that name. We always used to cut his hair very short. Once I shaved it and his brother named him ‘huevo’. He says it's because of the bumps, but it wasn't for that,” Sara del Prado said in an interview with Radio con vos 89.9.
Even so, the curious thing was that Acuña carried that nickname until he reached professional football. And today, it is customary for his teammates and the world of journalism in general to refer to him as 'El Huevo', despite his face not having the shape of an egg.
