A tough news for international soccer
Friday, December 9, was a sad day for international soccer as it was confirmed that the American journalist Grant Wahl passed away in Qatar while covering the match between Argentina vs. Netherlands in the World Cup.
This news was confirmed by the journalist's own brother, Eric Wahl, who even believes that the cause of his death may have been caused by the authorities of the Middle Eastern country because he stated that in the last few days he had received threats for wearing an LGTBQI+ shirt.
"My name is Eric Wahl. I live in Seattle, Washington. I am Grant Wahl's brother. I am gay. I am the reason why he wore the rainbow shirt in the World Cup. My brother was healthy. He told me he had received death threats. I don't think my brother just died. I think he was killed. And I just ask for any help," he said on his Instagram account.
In addition, Eric mentioned that he is investigating what really happened to his brother Grant. "We are still trying to find out. He collapsed at the stadium, they gave him CPR, Uber took him to the hospital, and he died according to Celine. We just spoke to the Department of State and Celine spoke to Ron Klain and the White House, he explained.

Journalist Grant Wahl had been detained before
It is worth mentioning that, in the match between Wales against the United States, Grant Wahl was not allowed to enter the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium because he was wearing a shirt with a flag surrounded by an LGTBQI+ rainbow. However, after 30 minutes, they allowed him to attend the sports venue.
