Memphis Depay held a press conference prior to this match, where he learned about the retirement of professional footballer Jefferson Farfán and dedicated some heartfelt words to him.
"I hadn't heard about Farfán. Obviously, we coincided when I was in the PSV youth team. When I was a ball boy at the club, I admired him. We faced each other once in national teams in 2018. It was incredible," he said in response to RPP's question.
Let's remember that a few years ago, the FC Barcelona striker revealed that he admired 'La Foquita' when the Peruvian was one of the stars of PSV Eindhoven.

"When I was 12 years old, I used to watch Farfán play at PSV: I was playing in the youth teams and would go to the stadium to see him. I had to pass the ball to Farfán for the corners. He doesn't remember me, but I remember him. It was fun as a kid," he said for Movistar Deportes after a friendly match between the Netherlands and Peru in 2018.
