ONE OF HER DREAMS COMES TRUE. Talía Azcaráte, the sports journalist, became the first Peruvian woman to commentate a World Cup match as part of the communication staff covering the Mexico vs. Poland game in Qatar 2022.

Azcaráte, who stands out in sports journalism and has earned her place through her knowledge of football and her modern and agile style.

She expressed her satisfaction at being the first Peruvian journalist to commentate a World Cup match. She shared a message on her social media about this important milestone in her career.

"My first time commentating a World Cup match on free TV (Qatar 2022), it's a dream come true. To my 5-year-old self, I want to say that she did very well in never giving up despite the obstacles along the way. I think you would be proud of me," says part of the text by Talía Azcárate.

TALÍA AZCARATE WAS PART OF THE PERUVIAN TEAM

Talía Azcárate is not only a journalist and sports commentator, but she was also a football player and even played for the Peruvian women's national team.

"We were paid five soles a day. That was the only economic retribution we received, but it was the least of my concerns. What mattered to me was the pride and responsibility of representing my country," said Talía Azcárate in an interview with Trome a few months ago.
