Domingo 23 de Octubre del 2022

Boca Juniors was crowned champion of the Argentine Professional League 2022 and celebrated a new title with a spectacular setting at La Bombonera. The 'xeneize' people celebrate as they should.

Boca Juniors celebrates the title despite not winning against Independiente

Boca Juniors had a dreamy afternoon at La Bombonera, as River Plate's victory over Racing allowed them to celebrate the Argentine Professional League title. It was an afternoon full of emotions and finally, the "xeneize" people celebrated properly.

With Hugo Ibarra leading the team from the bench, the "Azul y Oro" squad won another title in Argentine football deservedly. Although the team was criticized from the first match for not having a clear game plan, they showed week after week that they were prepared to fight until the end.

In Boca's celebration, Carlos Zambrano, Luis Advíncula, Dario Benedetto, Frank Fabra, and Sebastián Villa were the most exuberant. There was beer flowing, shouts everywhere, in addition to the chants of the fans who accompanied from the stands.

The Boca title and an exciting finish

Boca Juniors did not have an easy time against Independiente de Avellaneda, as many speculated that they would give in to prevent their classic rival from winning the title. However, Julio César Falconi's team came out fighting. That's why they took the lead with Leandro Fernández's goal.

Then, Pol Fernández and Sebastián Villa - with a spectacular free-kick goal - put the "Xeneizes" back on top, but no one was prepared for the surprising appearance of Javier Nicolás Vallejo. The 18-year-old player scored the 2-2 with a powerful header and put the title's definition in suspense.

Things got even more intense with the penalty that Racing had, which, if scored, would have been enough for the title to go to the Cilindro de Avellaneda. However, Franco Armani saved Jonathan Galván's shot, giving a hand to his classic rival in the process.
