Racing Club defeated Lanús 1-0 with a goal by Enzo Copetti and became the new leader of the Professional League 2022. The Academy displaced Boca Juniors from the first place, added 50 points and took a two-point lead with one match left in the championship.
"The players understood how to play these types of matches. It was a final. These are decisive moments of the championship and we have to be up to the task. If we want to aspire to the championship, we had to win today. Now we are in first place and we have to wait and see what the rival does in the next match," said coach Fernando Gago after the victory against Lanús.

What results does Racing need to be champion?
Racing will host River Plate this Sunday, October 23rd at the Cilindro de Avellaneda for the last match of the Professional League.
- If Racing wins: they will have 53 points and will be champions as long as Boca loses one of the two remaining matches.
- If Racing draws: they will have 51 points and will have to wait for Boca to draw or lose in their two matches, respectively.
- If Racing loses: they will stay with 50 points. In this scenario, there could be a three-way tie for first place. If Boca (2nd with 48 points) draws against Gimnasia and Independiente and Huracán (3rd with 47 points) defeats Patronato. According to the rules of the Professional League, if there are two or more teams tied on points, they must play a final or a triangular to determine the champion. If the results don't favor Racing and Boca wins one of their two matches, Racing will lose the title.
