The campaign of Rosario Central in the Professional League has been very irregular and the team has not been able to consolidate itself to climb in the standings, not even with the presence of coach Carlos Tévez. This Sunday, the squad faced Platense, for matchday 21, and things were difficult for the 'Canallas': the VAR disallowed a goal and sparked controversy.

The match had started negatively for the Rosarinos at the Gigante de Arroyito Stadium, since Ramiro González scored for the visitors (14'). Due to the disadvantage, the team led by 'Carlitos' became more aggressive and started to press.

However, there was no clarity in the collective aspect and set-pieces were of great importance. Precisely, a free kick generated the equalizing goal, although with an unexpected protagonist: Jhonatan Candia came off the bench to replace Ignacio Malcorra, the usual free kick taker, and took ownership of the ball (44').

The forward had full confidence, took the shot and, surprisingly, slipped before, causing an unusual effect on the ball. Despite the deflection, Alejo Veliz took advantage and scored the equalizer against Platense (45'). Everything was happiness, but VAR interrupted the celebrations.

Silvio Trucco, referee of the match, received a call from his assistants in the technology area, as there was an irregularity that needed to be analyzed. The referee decided to rely on the monitor and, after several reviews, determined that Candia had touched the ball with both feet before the cross and, therefore, the goal was disallowed.

The players of Rosario Central could not believe the decision, although they had their revenge shortly after: Facundo Buonanotte scored before halftime (45+6'). The story did not change anymore and the 'Canallas', with this draw, remain in 22nd place with 25 points; while Platense climbs to ninth place, accumulating 30 points.
