River establishes its position: 'Millo's' response to the possible departure of 'Juanfer' Quintero.

Enzo Francescoli, executive of the 'Millonario', gave details about the current situation of the Colombian midfielder and talked about the rumors of a possible interest from Santos in Brazil.

Enzo Francescoli, executive of the 'Millonario', gave details about the current situation of the Colombian midfielder and talked about the rumors of a possible interest from Santos in Brazil.

The place of Juan Fernando Quintero seems to be further away from River Plate, as besides the few minutes he has had in the last matches, the interest in signing him from Brazilian football increases the possibility of an imminent departure. In view of this, the board of the 'Millonario' has made things clear.

It happens that, according to the Brazilian press -'TNT Sports' to be exact-, 'Juanfer' is one of Santos' priorities and in a few days they will present a formal proposal to secure his services. However, in Argentina they have taken things calmly and even emphasized the bond that the Colombian has with 'Millo'.

Enzo Francescoli, technical secretary of the Argentine club, spoke with 'De Fútbol Se Habla Así' from 'DirecTV Sports' and gave details of the current situation of the Colombian midfielder, who returned to the Monumental at the beginning of the year from the Superliga China's Shenzhen FC.

"I don't know about 'Juanfer', he just came, I don't know what could happen. For now, we haven't received any request," said the former Uruguayan footballer about the future of the player born in Medellín.

The economic situation of Santos is not the best, but they would be willing to make an effort to take him to Brazil on loan. This could be convenient for Quintero if he is looking for more playing time, considering that he currently has a secondary role for Marcelo Gallardo.

The contract with River Plate is until the end of 2022, but given how things have been going, it is very unlikely that they will renew it. The positive thing for Juan Fernando Quintero is that the transfer is in his hands, so any negotiation to sign him in 2023 will be directly with him.

Francescoli spoke about Miguel Borja's arrival

Putting aside the 'Juanfer' issue, Enzo Francescoli gave his point of view on River Plate's recent signings, Miguel Borja and Pablo Solari. "They arrived when they had to arrive," he said, emphasizing that the elimination from the Copa Libertadores had nothing to do with whether they arrived late or not to the team.

"We were doing well until after the round of 16 (of Libertadores). That was the idea we had. Football is dynamic. The signings arrived when they did. Talking about late or early doesn't make much sense," added the historical Uruguayan player.
