Boca Juniors has suffered three consecutive defeats in the Professional League and has fallen behind in the standings: they have nine points and are in 14th place (Newell's is the leader with 15 points). Boca Juniors Focused on Winning the Professional League Title
Boca Juniors will focus on winning the Professional League title, and the management is reinforcing the squad with the aim of improving their collective performance. Precisely, on Wednesday, the signing of Martín Payero was confirmed. The Argentine midfielder joins the team after a season at Middlesbrough, a club in the second division of England.
The 23-year-old Argentine footballer arrived in Buenos Aires on July 13 and, after completing the paperwork, the link became official. After the transfer was confirmed, the talented player was presented at a press conference and did not hide his excitement for the new challenge he is taking on in his career.
"Today I was able to meet my teammates and the coaching staff, although we didn't talk much due to the schedule delays. This Thursday, I will meet them again, and I will be ready to start training," said Payero to the media.
"I'm happy about this situation. I'm looking forward to joining the rest of the squad soon and living up to what Boca Juniors represents," added Martín, who already knows the Professional League since he played for Banfield and Talleres before moving to English football almost a year ago.
It should be noted that Payero signed for Middlesbrough in England for the 2021-22 season and wore the number 10 shirt. Although he had a positive impact on the club at first, he gradually lost regularity due to injuries and could only play 13 games in the Championship (scored one goal and provided one assist).
