Welcome, Martín Payero!
Boca Juniors will focus on winning the Professional League title and the board is reinforcing the squad with the intention of improving collective performance. Precisely, this Wednesday the signing of Martín Payero was confirmed, an Argentine midfielder who arrives after a season at Middlesbrough, a club in the English second division.
The 23-year-old Argentine footballer had arrived in Buenos Aires on July 13 and, after completing the paperwork, the bond became official. After the transfer was confirmed, the talented player was introduced in a press conference and did not hide his excitement for the new challenge he is taking on in his career.
"Today I was able to meet my teammates and the coaching staff, although we didn't talk much due to the schedule delays. This Thursday I will meet again and I will be ready to start training," Payero said to the media.
"I am happy about this situation. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and living up to what Boca Juniors represents," added Martín, who already knows the Professional League since he played for Banfield and Talleres before moving to English football almost a year ago.
It is worth mentioning that Payero signed for Middlesbrough in England for the 2021-22 season and wore the number 10 shirt. Although he had a positive impact at the club initially, he gradually lost regularity due to injuries and was only able to play 13 matches in the Championship (he scored one goal and provided one assist).
