Estudiantes de La Plata reported on Tuesday that 'by mutual agreement with the player, the contract that linked Diego García to our institution was terminated'.
The Uruguayan forward had joined Pincharrata in July 2019, went on loan to Talleres de Córdoba between April and December of last year, and was loaned out to Patronato this year.
In the first days of July, his return to his country was about to be completed due to Nacional's great interest in signing him, but fans and members of the Uruguayan club expressed their opposition to this signing because the player has had an open case for sexual abuse since February 2021 in Argentina.
"I believe in the legal framework, in the presumption of innocence, I believe that anyone should have the right to work until they have a final sentence against them. That is my personal position, but I am also the president of Nacional and my main challenge is to maintain unity. We believe that the best thing we can do in order to maintain that unity is to close this matter; Diego García will not play for Nacional," said the Tricolor president José Fuentes on Radio Sport on July 5th.
To join El Bolso, the player had prematurely ended his loan at Patronato (on February 10th of this year, the club from Paraná reported that the loan was until December of this year). Now, the 25-year-old footballer and his representative Pablo Boselli must define their new future, with a possible option being his return to Patronato, although in this case it would no longer be on loan from Estudiantes.
