A foreseen ending was realized: Julio César Falcioni is no longer the coach of Colón de Santa Fe.
A day after being eliminated in the round of 16 of the CONMEBOL Libertadores, losing 2-0 to Talleres, the red and black club reported on Thursday in a statement that: "After a meeting with the board of directors, it was mutually agreed to determine the termination of Julio César Falcioni's technical guidance of the professional squad."
In SportsCenter AM they had already announced, even before the start of the Copa series, that the decision to anticipate the coach's departure had already been made, due to the wear and tear in the relationship between the Emperor and the board.
On the part of the board, there was annoyance over some of the coach's footballing decisions and his public complaints. Meanwhile, Julio César was displeased with how the squad was dismantled without providing replacements.
Falcioni arrived at Colón in early 2022 as a replacement for Eduardo Domínguez. Under his command, El Sabalero played 30 matches, achieving 8 victories, 12 draws, and 10 defeats, with a success rate of 40%.
