The Mario Alberto Kempes opened its doors for a new final between Boca Juniors and Tigre, just like in 2019. This time, the joy was for the Xeneizes, who defeated Tigre 3-0 and were crowned champions of the Liga Cup.

From the early hours of the morning, fans began to gather around the stadium, with flags, jerseys, and all the characteristic colors that Argentine football always offers.

With the majority of Xeneize fans, as it was known in advance, the stands began to fill as soon as the doors opened at exactly 12 o'clock, a time when the field lines were still being reviewed.

The show featured hundreds of special guests, including Facundo Campazzo, a great representative of Cordovan sports and a devoted Chacarita fan. The point guard, who still doesn't know if his future is in the NBA, is visiting Argentina and didn't miss the opportunity to watch the Tigre and Boca show in his homeland.

At around 2:30 pm, Boca players arrived at the stadium, with a loudspeaker playing cumbia music and Darío Benedetto in the front line. The Tigre players arrived in silence, greeting some fans who shouted from a distance.

In the pre-competition warm-up, the Boca fans made sure to show their support for Agustín Rossi, the most cheered name in the pre-match. On the other hand, the Matador fans applauded their great captain Sebastián Prédiger.

After 3:00 pm, nobody else could enter the Kempes stadium and the chants from both sets of supporters were so deafening that they overshadowed the attempt by Ulises Bueno and his band to add music to the already rhythm-filled afternoon.

The start of the match showed a fierce Tigre side, determined to put pressure and make it uncomfortable for Boca. But after the first 15 minutes, Battaglia's team had Varela providing clarity, a lot of effort from Fabra, and their center-backs positioning themselves past the midfield line. That's how the first warning came, the disallowed goal from Pipa.

Boca remained organized at the back, circulating the ball but without creating danger. The fans appreciated the effort of Salvio, the commitment of Romero in the recoveries, and the ability of the midfielders and defenders to effectively neutralize Tigre's proposals.

The match reached a plateau and just when it seemed that it would be level at halftime, Rojo's goal came to change everything. The Boca fans sent their players to the dressing room chanting: "I would give my life for a championship and one more lap," predicting what was to come.

In the second half, Tigre came out determined to press and show what they were capable of. But their lack of precision prevented them from converting their intentions into goals, and although they dominated the game in the first 15 minutes, the equalizer didn't come. With desperation and physical effort, the Matador started to leave spaces for Boca to circulate the ball, sealing their fate. The bet cost the Martinez's team dearly. Fabra scored a fantastic goal and there was nothing left to do: everything went downhill for Tigre.

Meanwhile, Boca moved with confidence and their fans reminded Benedetto of their unwavering support as he left the field after 77 minutes to make way for Luis Vázquez, the one who would deliver the final blow.

With the score 3-0 and 5 minutes left, nobody was watching the match anymore and the Boca bench was celebrating with umbrellas opened. The story was already written: Boca had their 72nd star in their hands.

The end of an intense afternoon is summarized in two photos: Boca celebrating in front of the delirium of their fans and Tigre, desolate but surrendered to the respect of their people, looking at each other as those who know that there is no room for reproach. The Matador fought their own battle, was overcome, and earned the applause of both friends and foes in Córdoba as they hung the medal of second place around their necks.
