Racing's winning streak came to an end with a draw against Lepra in the twelfth round, but that point was enough to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Professional League Cup. Fernando Gago's team lost their unbeaten record in 2022 and finished the initial phase of the tournament with three consecutive draws, but they reached 30 points (+15 goal difference) and secured first place in the group. With their focus on the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, they will face Aldosivi in the quarterfinals.
River crushed Sarmiento, dispelling any doubts that had arisen after consecutive setbacks against Talleres and Atlético Tucumán, and secured their place in the next stage ahead of schedule. With 29 points and the best goal difference in the tournament (+19), Marcelo Gallardo's side, who finished the round with a home win against Platense, pulled away from the chasing pack. The team, which will also be participating in important matches in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, will face Tigre at the Monumental in the first elimination round.
Defensa y Justicia, often praised for their style of play, experienced a slump in form in recent weeks but finished with crucial victories over Unión and Patronato to secure their spot in the green zone. Sebastian Beccacece's team (25 points, +7), already eliminated from the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, needed Adonis Frías' penalty goal to break the resistance of the team from Entre Ríos and return to the third position they had started the matchday in. With one of their objectives achieved, the team from Florencio Varela will visit Boca Juniors at La Bombonera.
Argentinos Juniors were on the verge of being eliminated until Kevin Mac Allister scored the winning goal against Unión in the 83rd minute and advanced to the next round. The victory for El Bicho (25 points, +5), who will travel to La Plata to face Estudiantes, eliminated Gimnasia (24, +4) and "frustrated" the La Plata derby that was supposed to take place if the son of Colo didn't score. The team from La Paternal is the only qualified team in the group that did not participate in international competition this semester.

Finally, Gimnasia (24, +4), Newell's (23, +2), Sarmiento (21, -7), Banfield (19, +3), Unión (17, -2), San Lorenzo (15, -2), Atlético Tucumán (11, -10), Talleres (11, -12), Platense (10, -11), and Patronato (10, -15) are mathematically unable to reach the final phase of the tournament during the regular season.
The quarterfinals of the Professional League Cup will be played as a single match at the stadium of the team with the better placement in the previous phase, with the following matchups: 1A vs 4B, 2B vs 3A, 2A vs 3B, and 1B vs 4A. The matches will be Racing vs Aldosivi, Boca Juniors vs Defensa y Justicia, River Plate vs Tigre, and Estudiantes vs Argentinos Juniors. The semifinals and final of the tournament will be played at a neutral venue, with the final scheduled for Saturday, May 21, or Sunday, May 22. The champion will qualify for the 2023 CONMEBOL Libertadores and the 2022 Trofeo de Campeones.
