The severe injury suffered by Paraguayan Robert Rojas against Alianza Lima overshadowed River Plate's victory in the first match of Group F in the 2022 Copa Libertadores. The full-back was hit by a tackle from Aldair Rodríguez, leaving him sprawled on the field and forcing the medical staff of the Argentine team to carry him off on a stretcher.
A countless number of messages of support were sent to the River Plate fans through social media, and José Luis Chilavert joined them. The controversial Paraguayan goalkeeper wished a speedy recovery to 'Sicario'.
"Stay strong, dear compatriot Robert Rojas. You are a Guaraní warrior and you will recover very well. Sending you all the positive energy, champion," Chilavert wrote on his official Twitter account along with a photograph of both of them.

The unfortunate incident between Rodríguez and Rojas occurred in the 87th minute of the match at the Estadio Nacional in Lima. While going for the ball, the Alianza Lima player kicked his opponent twice. The second of these strikes caused the injury, to the misfortune of both parties since the defender could not continue playing and the forward was sent off.
River Plate confirms Robert Rojas' fracture
A day after the match, River Plate confirmed through an official medical report that their player suffered a tibia and fibula fracture, which will require surgery in Argentina.
"Robert Rojas suffered a tibia and fibula fracture. He will return to Buenos Aires with the delegation and will undergo surgery in the coming days," the message posted by the Núñez club on social media reads.
