Boca Juniors defeated Argentinos Juniors 1-0 in the semifinals of the Copa Argentina and secured their qualification to the last round of the competition.
In the match, Peruvian players Luis Advíncula and Carlos Zambrano were present and starters, with Zambrano being substituted in the 80th minute due to a possible injury.
Despite that, Boca's coach, Sebastián Battaglia, was happy with the result and their place in the final of the competition. After the match, Boca's coach left a curious comment to say goodbye. "I dedicate this to the guys, my family, and the people who support me and truly love me. I think that's what sticks with you. Well, I'm leaving. Don't let them into the locker room," he said.
The statement was made after Juan Román Riquelme took the Boca Juniors players off the bus to return them to the locker room. There was a controversial conversation with the squad, as they had lost at home against Gimnasia, on the day of Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona's birthday.
Furthermore, Battaglia praised the work of his players in defeating a tough opponent. "It was a tough match. At times, we couldn't find our rhythm. In the second half, we settled down, scored the goal, and managed to win. It was a very difficult rival who plays football very well," he said. "The players deserve to reach the final. They make a tremendous effort," he continued.
Who will they play in the final?
Advíncula and possibly Zambrano will participate in the final of the Copa Argentina. In that match, the second finalist is yet to be confirmed, as it will come from the clash between Talleres and Godoy Cruz, who will seek their ticket to the final on November 12.
