After several weeks unable to overcome synovitis in his right knee, the medical staff of River Plate has decided that Matías Suárez will undergo surgery next Tuesday.

The Cordoban forward has a chronic condition that prevents him from playing or training normally. Therefore, after further studies, it was decided that he undergo a procedure known as "surgical cleansing" of the area, as he has already had three previous surgeries on that knee. The first one was on the patellar tendon in 2012, and two on the cruciate ligaments in 2013 and 2014.

This time, the surgery will serve as an exploration to clean the knee and determine if any other procedure is needed. The goal is for the striker to stop feeling pain.

Suárez, who was only able to start in five matches in the current League Tournament, has hardly been considered by Marcelo Gallardo in recent games due to chronic synovitis.

It is believed that after Tuesday's surgery, the forward, a key player for River, will miss at least eight matches, but depending on the condition of his knee, he could be absent for the rest of the year.
