Rafael Santos Borré scored a brace in River Plate's 5-0 victory over Central Córdoba in the Argentine League Cup. The Colombian has now scored 7 goals in this tournament with the Millonario's jersey.
Borré continues to demonstrate his great form and status as River Plate's top scorer during Marcelo Gallardo's tenure as the team's coach. The forward made it 2-0 after a great assist from Julián Álvarez in the 50th minute of the match.
In the 66th minute, Borré took advantage of a long pass from Armani that Central Córdoba's defense failed to clear and with a great finish in a one-on-one situation, he scored his second goal of the night and River's fourth.
The Colombian hadn't scored since March 21 when he scored four goals in River Plate's 6-1 victory over Godoy Cruz. With this goal, he reached a total of 7 goals in the current League Cup.
Rafael Carrascal entered the game in the 55th minute, replacing Agustín Palavecino. After 10 minutes on the field, he had a chance that he couldn't connect, but seconds later it resulted in River's third goal with Paradela finding the back of the net.
River's next challenge will be in the Copa Libertadores when they face Fluminense in Matchday 1 of Group D.
