The Colombian forward Rafael Borré was substituted due to an injury in the ninth minute of the match that River Plate was playing against Platense in the third round of the Argentine League Cup.
According to the Argentine club, the striker suffered a "trauma to the right iliac crest" and will be evaluated in the next few hours to see if he can play on Thursday against Racing in the Argentine Supercup.
The injury would not be serious, so he will be able to be called up by Reinaldo Rueda for the World Cup Qualifiers.
Borré left the field showing signs of pain shortly after the start of the match. At the time of the substitution, the Millonario team was already winning 1-0 with a goal from the forward Matías Suárez. That was the final result.
During the minutes that Borré was on the field, it was not possible to ascertain the cause of his withdrawal, but later, in the official broadcast, they confirmed that he had suffered an injury to the iliac crest during Saturday's training session.
Before the discomfort, the Colombian striker was adapting to the conditions of the match and had not had any dangerous chances on Platense's goal. Rafa was replaced by Julián Álvarez.
The River forward's injury adds to the injuries of several players from the Colombian national team shortly before the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers matches against Brazil and Paraguay.
Yerry Mina, Duván Zapata, Luis Javier Suárez, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Santiago Arias, are some of the players who are dealing with physical discomfort. David Ospina and Radamel Falcao García were also injured, but they have joined their teams in the last week and are now available to play.
