Claudio Biaggio is a knowledgeable figure to talk about San Lorenzo, a club where he was a top scorer and coach during a complicated period.
The current Chacarita Juniors coach in the Primera Nacional referred to the situation that the "Ciclón" is going through with the Romero brothers, Ángel and Óscar. The Paraguayan twins have not returned to Argentina to join the training sessions and this is causing some discomfort in the club from Boedo.
"First of all, I think the mistake was made by the leaders by putting them in a privileged position from the day they arrived. From the perspective of the coaching staff, we have clear rules and they must be followed," Biaggio commented on the program DirecTV Sports, "De Fútbol Se Habla Así".
And he continued about his coaching methods: "I always had clear things with the leaders and we knew that the most important thing was for everyone to be in the same form, no matter who it was. In terms of treatment, the coach has to be as simple as possible and communicate to the player what they have to do in the most direct way."
On September 23, 2017, after Diego Aguirre's resignation, "Pampa" took over as the interim coach of San Lorenzo's First Division team. After a series of good results in the last part of 2017, the leaders decided to renew his contract until December 2018.
In that same tournament, he would qualify his team for the 2019 Copa Libertadores, after finishing in third place in the Argentine tournament 2017-18. After being eliminated from the Copa Sudamericana against Nacional and the Copa Argentina against Temperley, Pampa left the club on October 31, 2018, resigning as San Lorenzo's coach.
"Over time, I realized that the things I did at San Lorenzo were good. For example, qualifying for the Copa Libertadores and promoting young players who were later sold," he analyzed about his time as the coach of the "Ciclón".
"I knew it was a difficult year for the club's economy and I don't regret it," he concluded about his tenure as the coach of the Boedo team.
