At the end of 2019, when the presidential elections approached in Boca Juniors, the name of Paolo Guerrero appeared as a priority signing on the agenda of candidate Jorge Ameal, who was accompanied by Boca idol Juan Román Riquelme.
Ameal won the seat of the Boca board, however, the captain of the Peruvian National Team did not join La Bombonera. Beyond being a campaign strategy, Riquelme was convinced of signing Paolo and now his representative, former footballer Mariano Pernía, revealed the reasons why the transfer did not materialize.
"The possibility of Paolo Guerrero coming to Boca arose but it did not happen. He had everything agreed with Daniel Angelici, but then the conversation continued with Román and they did not reach an economic agreement," mentioned the agent in an interview with TNT Sports.
The 'number 9' remained in Brazil and Inter offered him to extend his contract until December 2021. In Porto Alegre, he has shown a great level at the age of 36, so Pernía sees the signing of Paolo Guerrero by Boca Juniors in the next market as complicated, among other factors. "I think it is now impossible, because of his age and because he has already played the Copa Libertadores. Boca wanted him for that, but now in July it is impossible," he emphasized.
