In the 17th minute, Gonzalo Montiel led River's attack. The full-back managed to get past a rival in an incredible way and then crossed the ball into Banfield's area. Suárez took advantage of the assist and scored a header that bounced off the pitch and entered Iván Arboleda's goal.
River Plate celebrated the Chinese New Year with a spectacle in commemoration of the Asian people. Likewise, the names of their players on the shirts are in Mandarin, as a show of solidarity with the country that has been suffering from the spread of the coronavirus.
River Plate is winning 1-0 against Banfield in Round 20 of the Argentine Superliga. If the result is maintained, the 'Millonario' will remain as the sole leader of the tournament with 42 points, taking a 6-point lead over their eternal rival, Boca Juniors.
