The coach of Flamengo, Portuguese Jorge Jesus, affirmed after conquering the Copa Libertadores that it is a triumph "for Brazilian football" and that it should serve for the carioca club to start a winning cycle that leads it to be among the best in South America.

"Flamengo is the biggest club in the world in terms of fans, but the biggest in the world is the one who wins titles, and in front of Flamengo there are many teams because they express their greatness in titles," said the coach in the press conference after the final of the Copa Libertadores, won by his team 2-1 against River Plate in Lima.

"Today, Flamengo's victory is not just mine or the players', it is for Brazilian football," he had previously told television.

The coach, who arrived in Brazil this year, asserted that winning the continental title was one of the motivations to accept the offer from the carioca club.

"When I accepted this challenge to go to Brazil, it was exactly like a dream that I would be in a Libertadores and could reach the final and win it, as well as being in the Brazilian Championship also with all the possibilities of winning," he said.

The Portuguese stated that several people closest to him opposed his move to Brazil, although he always trusted in his work.

"I came against many people, part of my friends... but I had a lot of conviction in my work, a lot of confidence in my work and I also knew Flamengo's team very well," he commented.

For Jorge Jesus, his successful career at Flamengo "could not have happened, but there was the talent and the structure to do what we did today."
