River Plate thrashed the current Argentine football champion, Racing Club from Avellaneda, 6-1 as an away team in an exciting match corresponding to the third round of the local league.
Racing, which had two draws and one loss at the beginning of the tournament, scored its only goal at 3 minutes through Augusto Solari, after a good play by Alexis Soto and the experienced Lisandro López.
