The Paraguayan brothers and midfielders Ángel and Óscar Romero arrived in Argentina on Thursday to sign with San Lorenzo, which does not have any international competitions until 2021 and aims its sights on the Argentine Superliga.
Ángel Romero made his debut for Cerro Porteño in his home country in 2011 and transferred to Brazilian club Corinthians in 2014.
Óscar also made his debut for Cerro Porteño in 2011 and later played for Racing Club (2015-2016), Spanish club Deportivo Alavés (2017-2018), and Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua (2018-2019).
The 27-year-old twins underwent routine medical examinations on Thursday afternoon to sign with the blue and red team.
"San Lorenzo has given us the opportunity to fulfill our dream, so I am very grateful. Today we are here, happy, it's what we wanted. We come with a lot of desire to do things well," Óscar Romero told the press at the airport.
The midfielder said that their family is "very happy" because they are "fulfilling the dream" of playing together again.
The brothers were welcomed by nearly a hundred fans, who celebrated the arrival of the Paraguayans with songs and words of support.
"San Lorenzo is a big team, of course we knew that this could happen. I am very happy and grateful to the people who came here to be with us. Now, we must return this trust on the field," he said.
Ángel found it amusing that journalists see them as physically similar and assured that their "quality" differentiates them on the field.
"He plays a little better," he said, smiling.
San Lorenzo will host Rosario Central on Saturday, August 17 in the third round of the Argentine Superliga.
The team coached by Juan Antonio Pizzi is the leader of the league with a perfect score along with Arsenal and Rosario Central.
