The Colombian midfielder Andrés Roa assured this Thursday, after undergoing a medical examination to sign with Independiente, that he "always" had "the desire" to play for Rojo and that it is a "privilege" to join this "great club".
"Independiente is a great club, with a lot of history. It is a privilege to be here. I always had the desire to be here. I was anxious but they reassured me that it was going to happen," said the 26-year-old midfielder to the press from the clinic's door.
Roa, whose contract belonged to Deportivo Cali from his home country, was on loan last season at Huracán.
The Colombian played from 2013 to mid-2018 in Colombia, first at Uniautónoma, then at Unión Magdalena and finally at Deportivo Cali. Independiente will be his second Argentine team.
Roa played with the Colombian U-23 national team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was part of the squad that participated in the Copa America Centenario in the United States in 2016.
The Colombian will become the third reinforcement for Rojo, who has already signed defender Alexander Barboza from River Plate and forward Cristian Chávez from Aldosivi.
