Argentina's defeat by Croatia may cost Jorge Sampaoli his job
The 3-0 defeat of Argentina by Croatia could have consequences. Not only because of the almost elimination of the albiceleste, but also because coach Jorge Sampaoli's time may be running out, according to reports from the country's media.
After the defeat, relations between the group and Sampaoli are said to have broken down. Thus, the Argentine Football Association (AFA), in the next few hours, would make the decision to dismiss the coach before the crucial match against Nigeria.
If Sampaoli's departure is finalized, the AFA would put Jorge Burruchaga, the manager of the Argentine national team, in his place. In other words, the albicelestes would face a situation similar to the one that occurred with the Spanish national team's coach.
After Argentina's resounding defeat, Jorge Sampaoli took all the blame. In addition to exonerating Lionel Messi and Wilfredo Caballero, responsible for the goal that started the albiceleste's downfall.
